The aim of the conference Applied Linear Algebra - in honor of Richard Varga, which will take place in Palić from 13th to 15th October 2005, is to review the important scientific milestones of Richard Varga's numerous contributions in linear algebra, matrix theory, numerical linear algebra, numerical analysis, analysis, approximation theory..., but also to report and discuss recent progress through the participation of international leaders in the field, who will gather in his honor. Organized by Department of Mathematics and Informatics, Faculty of Science, University of Novi Sad conference will be held in picturesque village of Palić at the very north tip of Serbia, just a few kilometers from the Hungarian border. Situated at the shore of a lake, in the middle of Pannonian plain, it is quite easily accessible from the Budapest-Belgrade highway. In Serbia, Palić is well-known as an important tourist spot (and a very appropriate conference venue), best renowned for it's relaxing, peaceful, natural atmosphere and delicate wines. The main program of the conference will be accompanied with two "satellite" workshops Stohastics & Statistics and Mathematical Foundations of Computer Science. The conference is planned to be opened on Thursday, October 13th, in the morning and to be closed on Saturday, October 15th, in the evening.
